By now, most of us Torontonians have experienced or at least heard of archery tag. It's the game which lets you live out your dreams as an arrow slugging hero. Katniss Everdeen? Legolas? The object of the game is to take out your enemies while fulfilling certain challenges. Well, over Thanksgiving weekend, Dan's brother and his girlfriend (who had never heard of archery tag before) came over for a visit and we decided to take them to try it out at Battle Sports where they've added an innovative twist to this game. You see, not only can you take out your target using arrows, but you can grab axes (fake, of course) and throw them as well! This added a bit more intensity to the game as you don't need as much prep time to throw an ax as you do to notch an arrow.
At the beginning of each mission, each team races into the safe zone and grabs their weapons. Each person is only allowed to grab one ax and one arrow. Then, the action begins. We played a total of 4 games and they were all very challenging and fun. I wouldn't say that the games we played were unique. The first game we played was just like any war game where you had to take out all your opponents before they took you out.
The second game was a bit more interesting. It was pretty much the same, but this time we had a doctor and he could save us if we got shot. The third game was really challenging. Three cones were set up on either side and the objective was to either shot all three cones down or to eliminate all the players from the opposing team. We took a really long time completely this challenge, so the last game was a bit short and not as satisfying. Overall, it was fun, but I would have really liked to see some more creative games. As it turns, Steve, who was running our games, told me that he has a slew of other games up his sleeve, so we'll definitely have to go back sometime and try some different games. Two that I'm particularly interested in is the one where the boundaries of each team changes every time you shoot a target so that your playing area gets larger while your opponents gets smaller. The other is the one where you can shoot a barrel off from a platform from the other team to get it to "explode."
Battle Sports, we'll be seeing you again soon!
We spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping, and one of the reasons, as determined by the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School is because: "Sleep provides an opportunity for the body to repair and rejuvenate itself." A good night's sleep can determine how you feel the next day, and if you'll have energy to do all the things you want to do. Since Danny and I enjoy doing a variety of things, including: traveling, sports, hanging out with friends, and exploring the great outdoors, so it's very important for us to get good quality sleep, and buckwheat pillows provide us with the proper support to do that!
Every now and then, we will blog about places we've visited or things we've done either in Toronto or on one of our travelling adventures. We will share tips, and give information and reviews so that you may experience such adventures yourself!
In this special, we explored the intense fun that is Archery Dodge Ball. Hope you enjoyed it!
